A Finnish woman has fended off a bear attack by kicking the bear on the nose.

The young woman was walking in woods near Hankasalmi, in the centre of Finland, when she came face to face with the female brown bear and its cub, Finnish news agency STT reported Monday.

Thata girl!  Time someone showed those godless killing machines who’s boss. ;)

Serbian President recognizes Montenegrin vote

International Herald Tribune

BELGRADE The president of Serbia, Boris Tadic, on Tuesday became the first Serbian official to fully acknowledge the outcome of Montenegro’s referendum on independence, saying that he recognized the results of the vote on Sunday, which will separate the tiny Adriatic republic from its union with Serbia.

"I supported the preservation of a joint state, but as a democratic president of a democratic republic, I recognize the expression of the free will of the Montenegrin citizens," Tadic said. He went on to call for future close cooperation between Serbia and Montenegro.

And someone predicted at a forum that Serbia would do something silly/suicidal like invading.  Yeah, not exactly a smart thing to do when NATO is stationed within spitting distance.

Looks like Hayden’s getting the job

Gen. Michael Hayden moved a step closer Tuesday to becoming the nation’s 20th
CIA chief, where he will take over a spy agency looking for a leader to steer it through troubles ranging from al-Qaida to Washington politics.

Maybe they were distracted by his shiney stars?  That, or the twelve Republicans who voted in favor still have delusions that supporting Bush is a good thing.
